Bongseon Dandelion in Busan is a place where you can enjoy a meal surrounded by warm memories of days gone by.

Hello, this is Lux.
Around the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas, you can find plenty of cafés and other spaces designed to evoke the past, particularly in places such as Misari Café Street, Yangpyeong, Paju and Pocheon.
Busan, however, does not have many spaces quite like these.
Then again, perhaps Busan itself is a place where the modern world and the past naturally coexist.
Today, I would like to introduce Bongseon Dandelion, a restaurant in Busan where you can enjoy a meal while soaking up the nostalgia of the 1970s and ’80s.

The prices are not especially low, but considering the quality of the food, they do not feel unreasonable either. The restaurant’s philosophy and commitment to its food are clear, giving it a distinct identity of its own.
I’ll go into more detail below.
A Taste of the Past: The Restaurant’s Atmosphere

As soon as you walk through the entrance, you’ll find a waiting area of roughly two pyeong, or about 6.6 square meters.
As you can see in the photos, this small space is packed with artifacts from the past.
There are postcards, baseball posters, cameras and all kinds of other objects. From the perspective of our parents’ generation, it feels as though someone gathered together all the things that once filled the corners of an old room.
For me, items such as the old first-generation mobile phones bring back a flood of memories.
The collection seems to span the 1960s through the 1990s.
As a photographer, I noticed that the restaurant has gathered a wide range of film cameras. It is not a carefully curated collection arranged by famous camera series, but rather an assortment that resembles the stock of a secondhand dealer specializing in old cameras.
In other words, the display is not arranged with particular expertise; it is simply a collection of old things gathered from here and there.
For many ordinary people, cameras like these may once have seemed completely out of reach.
After your meal, you can enjoy herbal medicinal tea, coffee and simple snacks beside the counter. It is a thoughtful touch that shows the care put into the guest experience.
Let’s take a closer look.

A Roundup of Notable Visitor Reviews
“This is the place to go in Busan for the freshest and lightest bibimbap.”
“The food was neat and well prepared, and the owner was so friendly that we had a very pleasant meal.”
“As you would expect from a popular local restaurant, the seats fill up quickly at lunchtime. With so many varieties of bibimbap, choosing what to eat is part of the fun.”
“The seasoning in the yukhoe bibimbap is not particularly strong, so some people may find it a little plain. I actually liked that it was not overly intense.”
Those are some of the reviews posted online.
Since I visited with my family, we decided to order a variety of dishes.

You can’t skip the pajeon and dongdongju.
For the rice dishes, we ordered yukhoe bibimbap and Bongseon bibimbap.
Both were satisfying. The pajeon was crisp and nicely fried, with a savory flavor that paired beautifully with the makgeolli.
The Bongseon bibimbap and yukhoe bibimbap also brought out the distinctive character of the dish. What particularly sets this restaurant apart is the way the vegetables and other ingredients are finely shredded. The result is a more finely textured, densely packed bibimbap with a noticeably different mouthfeel.
Our Recommendation After Visiting Bongseon Dandelion
It was my first visit, so I did not arrive with particularly high expectations. But seeing the care the owner had put into displaying all those objects from the past made me think that the food, too, must be prepared with genuine dedication.
Anyone can open a business.
With a well-designed interior and effective advertising, you can certainly run a restaurant that way.
But a place that gives its space and its guests real meaning, and shows genuine affection for both, cannot be created so easily.
Busan may not have a 7080 café district like those found in Seoul and Gyeonggi, but having a place like Bongseon Dandelion helps make up for that absence in its own way.
If you bring your parents here, you are sure to have a memorable time.
For children, the restaurant may feel like an entirely new world.
I recommend Bongseon Dandelion as a place for a family meal.
Thank you.
