Location: Biyangdo is a small island off Udo—an island within an island. It may be modest in size, but it has a strikingly breezy atmosphere.
Getting there: Biyangdo is connected to Udo by land on the northeastern side, near Hagosudong Beach. From there, it’s about a 150-meter walk to the island.
The atmosphere: The island opens out into a broad, grassland-like space, and you’ll find plenty of people camping and backpacking here.
For campers who love a good sea breeze, it’s hard to imagine a better spot. 🙂
What to see: There are lookout points, pavilions and areas with the feel of a campground. A lighthouse stands alone in the sea, and depending on the tide, a “sea path” between Biyangdo and the lighthouse may appear.

Even taking its island location into account, the prices are remarkably reasonable—almost surprisingly so.
More than anything, the owner’s relaxed manner seems to make the whole cafe feel even more welcoming.
A Beautiful Place, A Beautiful Cafe
As you can see, there’s plenty to browse, from music- and book-related items to distinctive decor and all sorts of other little discoveries.
Most of all, the sweeping sea view through the cafe’s wall-to-wall windows is perhaps its greatest attraction.
As I mentioned in my previous guide to Udo, peanuts seem to be one of the island’s signature specialties.
Peanut ice cream is advertised everywhere.
There was no way I could simply walk past, so I ordered one.
Eating delicious peanut ice cream in such a beautiful, stylish space—what more could you ask for?
The wide-open view in front of the cafe is an instant source of calm.
If you visit Udo, be sure to make time for Udo Biyangdo, the island within an island, and enjoy a memorable break at the cafe.
