A Tasting Visit to Dong Boseong in Busan

A Tasting Visit to Dong Boseong in Busan

A Recommended Chinese Restaurant in Busan

Hello, this is Lux.

I stopped by while passing through Oncheonjang, and later discovered that the restaurant has received plenty of positive reviews online as well.

Unless a Chinese restaurant is aiming for the high-end luxury market, I have often felt that most places are more or less the same. Dong Boseong, however, made me reconsider that assumption—at least for a while.

This is Dong Boseong, a Chinese restaurant near Oncheonjang Station: Dong Boseong.

A Recommended Chinese Restaurant in Busan

Inside Dong Boseong

At first glance, the interior clearly seems designed to feel more upscale than that of a typical Chinese restaurant.

That said, there are also a few elements that come across as slightly cluttered.

For diners accustomed to hotel Chinese restaurants, the décor may feel as though it is just a little short of the mark.

The food, however, is on a different level.

I Was Craving Japchae Bap Today

When I was younger, there always seemed to be endless things I wanted to eat and do. As I have gotten older, though, I have found myself becoming much more decisive.

These days, I tend to settle on a simple system of my own: This is what I want today. I had that last time, so I will skip it. From now on, this is what I am ordering.

For the first time in a while, I found myself craving japchae bap—stir-fried glass noodles served over rice.

It cost 10,000 won, which is a few thousand won more than at an ordinary Chinese restaurant.

As someone who considers himself a food enthusiast, I do not really mind paying a little more as long as the food is good.

Dong Boseong’s Strength Is Its Distinctive Flavor

At last, it arrived. I have eaten japchae bap at many restaurants, but the version here was on another level.

The ingredients were fresh, and most importantly, the dish retained the rich, authentic aromas and flavors of Chinese cuisine. Every bite was genuinely enjoyable.

You can sense that the restaurant’s edge comes not only from its many years in the business but also from a distinctive philosophy about food.

I think I now understand why so many people in Dongnae and Oncheonjang recommend this place.

It had been a long time since I had such a genuinely satisfying meal.

I will absolutely be back.

Thank you.
