A Busan Landmark in Its Own Right
Cheongsapo Daritdol Skywalk is an offshore viewing facility built along the Cheongsapo coast, an area once known for the former Donghae Nambu railway line and its fishing-village scenery.
Since opening in 2017, it has become one of Busan’s signature ocean-view attractions. A recent expansion has also significantly increased its size.
Admission is free, and the skywalk connects to the coastal walking trail between Haeundae and Songjeong. As a result, it is popular not only with tourists but also with Busan residents out for a stroll.
A U-Shaped Skywalk Extending 191 Meters Over the Sea
Cheongsapo Daritdol Skywalk is an offshore observation facility built approximately 20 meters above sea level.
When it first opened, it extended 72.5 meters out toward the sea. Following an expansion project completed in 2024, it was transformed into a U-shaped skywalk with a total length of 191 meters. The Haeundae–Songjeong coastal improvement project received an investment of approximately 20.7 billion won, while the viewing area was also substantially enlarged.
At the end of the skywalk is a crescent-shaped section with a transparent glass floor. Visitors can look straight down at waves crashing below and the rocky seabed, making it one of the places where Busan’s sea can be experienced at its closest.
The Coastal Scenery Behind the Name Cheongsapo
From the observatory, visitors can take in the Cheongsapo fishing village, its red lighthouse and the rocky coastline all at once.
Five reefs known as “Daritdol” lie in a row just offshore, and the observatory takes its name from this group of rocks. On clear days, visitors can enjoy views of the horizon as well as sunrise and sunset, making the site a popular photography destination.
Why Visitor Numbers Have Surged
According to Haeundae District, visitor numbers rose sharply after nighttime trial operations began.
Operating hours have since been extended seasonally, allowing visitors to take in the nighttime scenery. The illuminated skywalk against the dark sea has proved particularly popular, keeping demand steady.
Some reports say that cumulative attendance has surpassed 3 million since the observatory opened.

Opening hours vary by season:
- December–February: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- March–May and September–November: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- June–August: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Access may be restricted for safety reasons in severe weather or when a strong-wind advisory is in effect.

Cheongsapo Daritdol Skywalk has evolved beyond a simple observation deck into a place where visitors can experience Busan’s eastern coastline from multiple perspectives.
Once defined by its railway tracks and fishing village, Cheongsapo has become a tourism destination where a coastal walking trail, skywalk and beach train come together. With free entry and the sensation of walking over the sea, it is widely considered a worthwhile addition to any Busan itinerary.
