Hagosudong Beach on Udo Looks Nothing Like Korea 🏖️
Udo is home to a beach known as Saipan Beach.
The photo at the top was taken from the opposite side of the beach, so it looks like an ordinary beach in Korea. Nothing particularly exotic.
But get closer, and the whole scene changes.
An emerald sea: This beach has the look of Saipan, with a beautiful gradient that begins in deep blue and fades into white sand.
Just look at the photo below.
Doesn’t it feel more like somewhere near Okinawa or Saipan than Korea?
That impression was so strong that it instantly lifted my mood a little.
I’ve always enjoyed the feeling of discovering places and spaces that seem completely different from the everyday, haha.
The beach has soft sand, and because the water is shallow with a gentle slope, it looks especially well suited to families traveling with children.
The beach is located on Udo.
Location – Yeonpyeong-ri, Udo-myeon, Jeju City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (northeastern Udo)
A haenyeo statue inspired by a woman diver in her 70s and a Little Mermaid sculpture serve as popular photo spots.
It seems that every Jeju beach I’ve visited so far has had sculptures made from basalt.
They appear to serve as something like mascots for each beach.
Hagosudong Beach has its haenyeo statue. When you’re exploring, discovering details like these is part of the fun in its own right.
It feels a bit like finding hidden treasures—one of those delightful “you didn’t know this was here” moments.
Nearby, you’ll find Biyangdo, connected by a small bridge, along with famous Udo peanut ice cream shops and clusters of charming cafés and restaurants.

Beyond swimming, it also seems possible to enjoy marine activities such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).
🚻 Facilities
As one of Udo’s main beaches, Hagosudong Beach is equipped with all the basic facilities visitors need.
Restrooms: Clean facilities are available, with recently built or upgraded amenities.
Showers: Paid shower facilities are available for use after swimming.
Nearby amenities: Guesthouses, restaurants, and cafés are concentrated around the beach, making it easy to access.
🚗 Getting There (Traveling Around Udo)
From Seongsanpo Port to Haumokdong Port or Cheonjin Port: The passenger ferry takes about 20 minutes.
Getting to the beach: After disembarking, take a circular bus, bicycle, or small electric vehicle.
Hagosudong Beach is an ideal place to enjoy a swim or take in Udo’s beautiful emerald-colored sea during your trip around the island.
Hagosudong Beach: A Little Piece of Somewhere Else in Jeju
Jeju has plenty of attractions that feel both distinctly Korean and somehow unlike Korea at the same time.
The island’s tangerine orchards, palm trees, and other features are likely the result of its warm southern climate. But the contrast with mainland Korea makes the island all the more intriguing.
Hagosudong Beach may be the ultimate example of that feeling.
It was such a beautiful and enjoyable place that the visit made for a genuinely happy day of sightseeing.
