Who Runs NANTA and Its Facilities
Jeju NANTA is operated by PMC Production, the company that created NANTA, Korea’s first nonverbal performance.

In reality, it is difficult for a performance venue to remain sustainable if it relies solely on ticket sales. I know that firsthand, having once worked in the performing-arts industry.
I am not entirely sure whether the venue operates in partnership with the hotel, functions as one of the hotel’s businesses, or whether the hotel is effectively an extension of the NANTA operation.
Either way, I believe this kind of partnership provides vital support for keeping cultural performances running over the long term.
Hotel Nanta
What it offers: Opened in March 2017, this four-star hotel sits directly beside the NANTA theater, allowing guests to combine a performance with a relaxing stay.
Location: 56-26 Seondolmokdong-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (in the mid-mountain area of Hallasan)
Size: The hotel has around 200 rooms, with a modern, clean-lined interior.
Main benefit: Hotel guests receive a discount of approximately 50 percent on NANTA tickets.
The entrance has the distinctive atmosphere of a cultural performance venue, although it also feels a little like the hotel’s main lobby.
That is hardly surprising, given that the theater and hotel are operated together.
The hotel’s glamping site is right next door.
Jeju Nanta Theater
Features: A dedicated theater designed exclusively for NANTA, located right beside the hotel.
Capacity: A large venue with approximately 650 seats.
Facilities: The theater is equipped with modern sound and lighting systems that heighten NANTA’s signature percussion rhythms and dynamic performances.
I booked a same-day ticket through Naver and picked it up at the theater. I had been in Seogwipo and drove all the way back up to Jeju City, but the trip was well worth the time. The Naver booking price was 32,500 won for an A-section seat.
NANTA Performance Information
NANTA turns a series of kitchen mishaps into a comedy set to the rhythms of samulnori, a traditional Korean percussion style.
I will not go into the details of the storyline here, since there is no need to spoil it for everyone.
More than the plot itself, the energetic performance is what makes the show so entertaining—and that is one of its greatest strengths.
Showtimes: 5 p.m. daily (an 8 p.m. performance may be added depending on the season or conditions at the venue)
Running time: Approximately 90 minutes
Age policy: Suitable for children aged 12 months and older (a ticket is required for children aged 36 months and older)
Highlights of the Show
Spectacular percussion performances using kitchen tools such as knives and chopping boards.
A story told without spoken language, making it easy for international visitors and children to follow.
Audience-participation events and the grandeur of the final samgomu drum performance.
No Video or Photography During the Performance
As you would expect, photography and filming are not allowed during the show.
However, during the final 15 minutes or so, an encore-style finale unrelated to the storyline begins, and filming is permitted at that point.
Please be considerate and avoid disrupting the performance by trying to take photos or videos improperly.
Nearby Attractions
Because the hotel and theater are located in the mid-mountain area of Jeju City, the surrounding scenery is beautiful and there are plenty of places to visit nearby.
Jeju Starlight World Park: This astronomical facility offers stargazing at night, making it a good place to visit after the NANTA performance.
Hallasan Gwaneumsa Trail: Located close to the hotel, it is convenient for a leisurely walk or a hike.
Jeju National University Ginkgo Tree Road: Famous as a scenic autumn driving route.
A Special Jeju Experience: Why NANTA Is Worth Seeing
NANTA was a fun and memorable addition to my Jeju trip.
As most travelers know, cultural experiences can bring a different kind of enjoyment to a journey.
If you want to add some excitement to a trip that might otherwise feel a little slow, I recommend seeing NANTA in Jeju.
