Geumneung Beach and Hyeopjae Beach are two of the most popular spots in Hallim, Jeju. Both are wonderful places to slow down and enjoy a leisurely walk or jog by the sea.
I also spent some restorative time here and found a comfortable place to stay in this beautiful part of the island.
Aguila Hotel
Aguila Hotel is a property that tends to divide opinion among previous guests. Reviews can be somewhat critical from travelers who are particularly concerned about value for money.
That said, the important thing to keep in mind is that finding a decent hotel in this area is not easy.
There are plenty of options in Jeju City and Seogwipo, but not many around here.
So if you are looking for somewhere near Geumneung or Hyeopjae Beach, I think this is a solid choice.

Aguila Hotel’s Highlight: The Infinity Pool
Head up to the rooftop and you will find the hotel’s swimming pool.
It is a relatively short pool, measuring roughly 25 meters, but it looks like a pleasant size for families to enjoy together.
It is not the spectacular pool you would find at a five-star hotel, but what makes this one special is the chance to watch the sunset over Biyangdo.

It was cold when I visited, so I simply admired the sunset before heading back down.
The rooms are clean, and the beds and bedding are perfectly decent.
One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is that every room offers an ocean view.
The afterglow of the sunset lingered for quite a while, leaving me in a wonderfully romantic mood.
As shown in the photos, the rooms are stocked with various toiletries and bathroom amenities, and I got the impression that the hotel tries to use fairly good-quality products.
The coffee, however, is KANU—a slightly underwhelming choice.
To be honest, I usually use the toiletries I bring with me, so I did not try the hotel’s supplies.
My Stay at Aguila Hotel
There were plenty of excellent hotels to choose from during my trip to Jeju.
But meeting the people who run these places added another dimension to the enjoyment of travel for me.

Of course, rates vary depending on the date.
A hotel should first deliver value for a price of 100,000 won. But if guests are happy with their experience, the money feels well spent; if they fail to make the most of their stay, it may feel like too much.
I have often stayed at five-star hotels only to sleep there and leave.
There have been many trips when I was too busy packing up and heading out to properly use the pool, café or bar.
That is why I have sometimes deliberately postponed my plans and spent an afternoon at the hotel pool instead.
For me, this hotel was well worth the price simply because of the sunset.
