1. Why I Chose Momento Hotel in Seogwipo
Seogwipo is one of the best places in Jeju for travelers who want major attractions close at hand.
Jeongbang Waterfall, Lee Jung-seop Street, Seogwipo Olle Market, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, Solseom Island, and Saeyeongyo Bridge are all within walking distance.
That makes it an excellent base for exploring without a car—and especially appealing to solo travelers and those taking smaller trips.
For this visit to Seogwipo, Lux set up camp here. Let’s take a look.

This is the lobby.
It isn’t lavish or obviously designed with a huge budget.
Instead, it is a modest, welcoming space that gives you the sense that the owner genuinely cares about the hotel.
That kind of atmosphere brings a real sense of warmth to a traveler’s stay.
One of the clearest signs of the owner’s enthusiasm is the sheer number of events. I run a business myself, and keeping up with events takes a tremendous amount of effort. That’s why many businesses eventually stop doing them.
At this hotel, almost every corner seems to double as an event space. You’ll see what I mean as you read on.

4. Rooms
The property combines the features of a hotel and a guesthouse.
The rooms are private and hotel-style, while the shared lounge and social programs bring in the communal atmosphere of a guesthouse.

The rooms are not brand-new, but they are well maintained, clean, and neatly arranged.
You can see a few signs of age here and there, but nothing that can’t easily be overlooked.
The towels are fresh and fluffy, and the bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned, so there was nothing uncomfortable about the stay.
Two bottles of water are provided, along with the usual essentials such as a hair dryer and electric kettle.
A partial ocean view from the window was a pleasant surprise. I had expected not to see the sea at all.

6. What Guests Are Saying
Across several booking platforms, this property maintains a high average rating. Guests consistently praise its value, location, and cleanliness.
■ Positive Feedback
Outstanding location Many guests say the market, streets, waterfalls, and walking paths are all within easy walking distance, making evenings lively and providing plenty of restaurant options.
Clean, tidy rooms Reviews repeatedly mention the well-maintained bedding and bathrooms.
Good value Guests appreciate the combination of cleanliness, service, and location for the price. The private rooms, along with guesthouse-style benefits such as the lounge and social opportunities, are especially well received.
Friendly staff Many reviews highlight the thoughtful guidance on travel information, restaurants, and transportation.
Welcoming lounge atmosphere Solo travelers say they never feel isolated, and many enjoy the potluck parties because the atmosphere is comfortable without being pushy.
■ Points to Consider
Limited parking This is a common feature of small, centrally located urban hotels.
Rooms are not especially spacious Once the bed and table are in place, there is a modest amount of remaining space. Since this is an urban hotel rather than a resort, guests expecting a large, resort-style room may be disappointed.
Street noise Because the hotel is in the city center, some reviews mention that certain rooms may pick up noise from the street.

This is the owner of Momento Hotel. I hear he is also fluent in Chinese. ^^

7. Final Thoughts on Momento Hotel
Momento Hotel and Momento House may not be glamorous, resort-style accommodations, but they offer something more practical:
cleanliness, good value, a convenient location, and a friendly atmosphere—along with the freedom to relax comfortably and without fuss.
I also think the owner’s kindness plays a significant role in making guests feel even more at home.
I hope this guide helps when you’re looking for a place to stay in Seogwipo. This has been Lux.
