This event offers a chance to see a single flower and also experience flower-lined paths, rural scenery, chrysanthemum tea, and hands-on activities. Take a moment to be surprised by the number of chrysanthemums at Hapdeok Reservoir.
From October 30th to November 8th, 2026, the 17th Dangjin Chrysanthemum Exhibition will be held, featuring 10,758 chrysanthemum artworks that will fill the Hapdeok Rural Theme Park.

This is not just an exhibition hall where you can see rows of chrysanthemums; it is an outdoor event where you can enjoy the Hapdeok Reservoir and the Hapdeok Folk Museum together. Chrysanthemum tea tasting, hands-on gardening experiences, rural experiences, and the sale of agricultural specialty products are held between the flower paths and chrysanthemum sculptures, making the entire circuit quite comprehensive.
There are so many varieties of chrysanthemum that there is no time for boredom during a walk.
The exhibition will feature 10,758 specimens of 6 types of chrysanthemums, including chrysanthemum bonsai, sculptural chrysanthemums, multi-wheel chrysanthemums, large chrysanthemums, small chrysanthemums, chrysanthemums for flower beds, and domestically developed new varieties. Just by reading the names, one gets the impression that chrysanthemums are flowers that lead quite busy lives within a single family.
The Hapdeok Rural Theme Park is operated as an outdoor exhibition space where visitors can enjoy chrysanthemum sculptures and flower paths, and it is connected to the Hapdeok Reservoir and the Hapdeok Folk Museum. Hapdeok Reservoir is introduced as one of the three major reservoirs of the Joseon Dynasty, and the surrounding rural scenery and agricultural culture are all captured in one scene.
In addition to the chrysanthemum art exhibition, there will be chrysanthemum tea tasting, and sales of potted chrysanthemums, bonsai chrysanthemums, and other flowers. Unlike simply viewing the flowers and leaving, this exhibition offers the opportunity to choose plants that you like and take them home.
Comparing it to similar flower events, the unique color of Hapdeok becomes apparent.
The Dangjin Chrysanthemum Exhibition shares similarities with the Seosan National Chrysanthemum Festival in that both are autumn events held in Chungcheongnam-do with chrysanthemums as the main theme. However, the Dangjin Chrysanthemum Exhibition incorporates local agricultural products and hands-on rural experiences, utilizing the Hapdeok Reservoir and the Rural Theme Park as its base.
The Dangjin Hapdeok Lotus Festival also utilizes Hapdeok Reservoir and Hapdeok Rural Theme Park, but it differs in terms of season and theme. While the Lotus Festival focuses on the summer waterfront scenery, this event features chrysanthemum artworks and flower paths from the end of October to the beginning of November.
The Hapdeok Water Management Folk Museum is located in the same area around Hapdeok Reservoir and showcases the cultural heritage related to water management and agricultural practices. While the chrysanthemum exhibition focuses on seasonal flowers and hands-on activities, the museum emphasizes permanent exhibitions and the local agricultural culture.
There are scenes that appeal to everyone: children, parents, friends, and lovers.
When you are with children, try chrysanthemum planting and chrysanthemum flower arranging so that they can experience flowers not just through sight. Information on straw craft and pottery workshops is also provided, creating a learning environment where you can encounter the materials and processes used in rural areas.

The itinerary, which includes a leisurely walk along a scenic path and sharing chrysanthemum tea, is well-suited for parents. Since it combines sightseeing of local agricultural products with the opportunity to purchase them, it would be better to slow down the pace at certain points.
Couples and friends can take memorable photos with chrysanthemum sculptures and various forms of artworks as a backdrop. When friends compare potted chrysanthemums, bonsai chrysanthemums, and other flowering plants, choosing the flowers becomes a fun experience, similar to a small exhibition.
By enjoying it in this way, you can connect the flowers and the hands-on experience seamlessly.
First, look at the chrysanthemum bonsai, sculptural chrysanthemums, multi-wheel chrysanthemums, large-flowered chrysanthemums, small-flowered chrysanthemums, and bedding chrysanthemums, in that order. Then try planting chrysanthemums or arranging chrysanthemum flowers. If your child pauses for a long time in front of a work, it will be easier to stay relaxed if you think of it as part of the exhibition rather than worrying about the next item on the schedule.
On October 31st and November 1st, a promotional and sales event for local agricultural products will be held. If you want to experience local agricultural products such as apples, grapes, jujubes, shiitake mushrooms, ginseng, and sweet potatoes, it is recommended to plan your visit to coincide with the chrysanthemum viewing event on those two days.
If you are interested in history and traditional culture, consider combining the chrysanthemum exhibition with hands-on experiences such as making lotus leaf rice and *hapdeok* (a type of Korean rice cake). For those who enjoy photography and are visiting alone, it is recommended to visit during the morning opening hours to carefully observe the chrysanthemum sculptures and flower paths, comparing their colors and shapes.
Since it is an outdoor exhibition, please take the seasons into consideration.
This event will be held primarily in outdoor spaces. Considering the late autumn temperatures and winds, which typically occur from the end of October to the beginning of November, it is advisable to bring a jacket or other outerwear to comfortably enjoy the flower path at a leisurely pace.
Since the locations and times for the chrysanthemum artwork exhibition and the hands-on activities and agricultural specialty product sales are different, if your objective is to participate in the activities or make purchases, please plan your route based on the operating hours for each day. Also, please note that the hands-on activities and sales programs may be subject to change depending on the weather.
Today’s itinerary includes a visit to Hapdeok Dam and the museum.
After visiting the exhibition hall, visitors can explore the Hapdeok Reservoir Folk Museum, where they can explore the agricultural cultural heritage of Hapdeok Reservoir and the Naepo Plains. The scenic views along the reservoir and the rural landscapes add scenes with a different character from the chrysanthemum sculptures.

Hapdeok Cathedral is a local attraction that can be visited along with the Hapdeok Reservoir area. The course features chrysanthemums representing the colors of the season, and a museum and Hapdeok Cathedral representing the region’s history and culture, ensuring that visitors will not only see flowers but also experience the local culture.
