Angela Stanford Joins Solheim Cup Coaching Staff at TCU

Angela Stanford, one of the most accomplished former players in American women’s golf, has joined the women’s golf program at her alma mater, Texas Christian University (TCU), as an assistant coach. TCU officially announced Stanford’s addition to the coaching staff on Sept. 14, 2026.

The announcement came one day after Stanford’s U.S. team lost to Europe, 15-13, at the 2026 Solheim Cup. TCU expects Stanford’s extensive tour experience and leadership with the national team to provide a fresh boost to the players’ performance and development.

TCU’s Most Accomplished Player-Turned-Coach

Stanford played for TCU from 1996 through 2000 and was named an All-American four times. Her 10 career victories and 135 rounds for TCU remain records in the school’s women’s golf history.

According to TCU, Stanford was inducted into the TCU Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame in 2010. In her new role, she will reunite with head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin, who coached her during her playing days at TCU.

Bringing LPGA and Solheim Cup Experience to TCU

Stanford competed on the LPGA Tour from 2001 through 2024, winning seven times and capturing her first major title at the 2018 Evian Championship. She also holds an LPGA record of 98 consecutive major championship appearances from 2002 through 2024.

She represented the United States as a player in six Solheim Cups and served as an assistant captain in 2021, 2023 and 2024. In 2026, she was named captain of the U.S. team, which faced Europe at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.

According to Golf Channel, Stanford expressed disappointment with the U.S. players’ putting and the slow greens after the 15-13 defeat. At TCU, her coaching role is expected to focus on passing along that international experience and her knowledge of course management to college golfers.

A New Coaching Staff Alongside Ravaioli-Larkin

TCU introduced Stanford as the third coach working under Ravaioli-Larkin. Ravaioli-Larkin was also Stanford’s head coach during her time as a TCU player.

In TCU’s announcement, Ravaioli-Larkin said Stanford’s major championship experience and tenure as captain of the U.S. Solheim Cup team would provide the players with high-level mentorship. Stanford is expected to share not only technical expertise, but also the leadership, preparation and ability to handle pressure required in team competition.

期待ations for TCU Women’s Golf

Stanford’s arrival represents more than a return to her alma mater. It is also viewed as a move that could enhance both the profile and competitiveness of TCU’s women’s golf program. Her experience on the LPGA Tour and in the Solheim Cup can offer NCAA-bound players practical, competition-focused guidance.

Drawing on Stanford’s coaching experience, TCU is expected to strengthen its player-development system and pursue greater long-term competitiveness in college golf. For Stanford, the role marks the beginning of a new chapter in which she can help turn her success as a player into growth for the next generation.
